Theory and Live Practice

Session 1.

  • Day 1. Introduction of the speakers and their history/Brief history looking at roots and origins of 5-Elements/Medicine based on Natural Laws /The Significance of Symptoms/The patient as a unique individual/The role of the practitioner/Simple code of Ethics/Cycle of the Seasons and overview of the 5-Elements.
  • Day 2. Sheng and Ke Cycles/Law of Mother/Child (A Natural Law)/Law of Midday/Midnight (A Natural Law)/Internal and External Causes of Disease/Diagnosing the levels-body, mind and spirit/Treat the cause of imbalance/ The Causative Factor/Colour, Sound, Emotion, Odour. Nature’s Gift.

Session 2.

  • Day 1. The Wood Element in nature/Liver and Gallbladder Officials/Wood Causative Factor diagnosis in patient/
  • Day 2. The Fire Element in nature/The Officials of the Heart, Small Intestines, Pericardium and Three Heater/ Fire Causative Factor diagnosis in Patient

Session 3.

  • Day 1. The Earth Element in nature/The Stomach and Spleen Officials/Earth Causative Factor in Patients/
  • Day 2/Introduction to Pulse Diagnosis with Live Practice Session/Introduction to Command Points/Tonification and Sedation Points/Source-Yuan Points/Junction-Luo Points/Horary Points/Accumulation-Cleft Points

Session 4.

  • Day 1.The Metal Element in nature/ The Lung and Large Intestine Officials/ Metal Causative Factor diagnosis in patients/Introduction to accessing Rapport with Patient/
  • Day 2. The Water Element in nature/ The Kidney and Bladder Officials/ Water Causative Factor diagnosis of Patients/ Wei level of energy/ Law of Midday- Midnight. A Natural Law.

Session 5.

  • Day 1. Traditional Diagnosis – To see, to hear, to feel, to ask/Traditional Diagnosis Part 1 Theory/ Pulse Live Practice with feedback
  • Day 2.Diagnosis and Treatment of Possession/Aggressive Energy. Theory and testing/ Law of Husband and Wife- A Natural Law/ Diagnosis and Treatment of Husband-Wife imbalance/Colour, sound, odour and Emotion Live Practice/Rapport building Live Practice.

Session 6.

  • Day 1. Diagnosis and treatment of Entry-Exit Blocks/ Back Shu Points/ Energy Transfers/ Gua Sha and Cupping/
  • Day 2. Colour, sound, odour and emotion Live Practice/Live patient in classCase history Teacher demo/ Discussion of TD and Treatment plan/ Golden keys in diagnosis/Rapport Live Practice and Feedback.

Session 7.

  • Day 1. Acupuncture points accessing the spirit level of patient/ Windows of the sky Points/ Kidney chest points/ Forbidden use of acupuncture points/
  • Day 2. Moxibustion techniques Theory and Live Practice/ 4 Needle Technique/ Clean Needle Technique Demo and Live Practice/ Tonification and Sedation Needle Technique/Treatment Planning.

Session 8.

  • Day 1. Case history with Live Patient in class/TD discussion and treatment planning/ Treatment Planning/ Colour, sound, odour and emotion Live Practice
  • Day 2. Traditional Diagnosis Part 2- The Physical Examination-Intro and Demo/Umbilical Pulse Intro and Live Practice/Akabani Test- Intro and Live Practice/ 3 Jiao Theory and Live Practice/ Japanese Abdominal Diagnosis Intro and Live Practice/ Acupuncture points accessing a Patient at the level of their spirit Part 2.

Session 9.

  • Day 1. Acupuncture Point location Exam/ Students Case History Presentations in Class
  • Day 2. The Law of Least Action/The Law of Cure/ Red Flags- When to send patient to Doctor/ Relationship with Patient’s doctor/All Topics review.

Clinical Supervision and Observation

The supervised clinic consists of 12 sessions.

Each day the students perform a treatment and observe one given by a classmate

(for the purposes of the course the class will be split in two teams – team A & team B, so that when team A treats, team B observs and vice versa).

By the end of the course each student will have performed (minimum) 4 treatments to 3 different patients.

Every treatment is supervised.

Acupuncture Point Location and Pulse diagnosis Practice Group

Running alongside the main course, bi-monthly. This will be a voluntary part of the course for students who wish to improve their skills. It offers students an opportunity to practice Acupuncture point location/Pulse diagnosis/Cupping/Moxibustion/Gua Sha. A qualified teacher will be present offering guidance and feedback.
